Quality Control
At Midwest Cast Stone, we believe Quality Control is the responsibility of every employee. We guarantee that each department hands off a “Best In Class” quality product to the next internal department in the production process.
Quality starts in our Estimating department with take-offs that fully capture exactly what we believe to be the cast stone requirements of your project. Our detailed pictorial take-offs show you very clearly the dimensions and volume of cast stone for every profile on your job as well as defining any issues associated with the profile. Our dedicated Estimators are full-time MCS employees. We do not contract any estimating work to third party companies.
Quality checks are made at every stage of Production, beginning in the drafting of Shop Drawings by the dedicated Project Managers. Once approved by the customer, those drawings move to our Mold Shop where they are brought to life by our skilled carpenters and double checked for accuracy before moving to the Production Floor. Every finished mold is marked with a unique bar code label for tracking purposes. Every Mold is physically set and checked by one of our Production Line Supervisors before being dry tamped, and then each piece is tagged with a unique bar code label as well. The tagged pieces then move to the Steam Room to cure, and quality checks are made every 2 hours during the curing period. Once curing is complete, the Stacking crew inspects each stone and only those meeting Cast Stone Institute criteria are cleaned and then stacked on pallets for shipment to the customer.
We comply with all Cast Stone Institute Plant Certification and Quality Control requirements and test stone for strength and absorption every 500 cubic feet of production. Our products are backed by the CSI warranty.
